Android or IOS? Both are Double-edged swords.

 

Android has larger market share than IOS because of its applicability and compatibility. IOS bases on the Apple iPhone and maintains its high profitability since iPhone 4. Android can be used in multiple brands such as Samsung, Huawei. And the developer has right to develop the software. IOS is different, Apple controls all the steps in apps development. It is hard to say which one is better, but both have their key problems which may become a dangerous factor for them.

For Android, comparable low profitability for itself may hurt in long run. Android doesn’t control the key profit sources. All the profits are going to manufactories. IOS doesn’t have this worry, it only can serve with iPhone.

But for IOS, if Apple fails in a generation of iPhone (like Samsung S7). The IOS will not maintain its profitability. In a word, IOS really depends on iPhone itself.

I don’t think Apple will choose the way of Android does. Because this way is totally different than the existing strategy. Maybe Apple needs to keep innovation and development both for the system and the iPhone.
